Capital: Delhi has the political status of a federally administered union territory known as the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
History:
Delhi have beinging the capital and major trade route for several empires in India. Mugal empire ruled Delhi for many years and in 1803 A.D Britishers defeted Mugals and conqure Delhi. In 1911 Britishers shifted their power to Delhi from Calcutta. In 1956 Delhi was converted into union territory and remained under Lt. Governor. In 1991 a law was passed by the parliament and a system of diarchy was introduce under which wide power was given to the elected government expect law and order which was remained with the centre. The actual enforcement of legislation came in 1993.
